STRIGARUM ARCANA is an artistic tarot project rooted in the study of the classical tradition of the Tarot and its symbolic language.
This edition presents the 22 Major Arcana, forming the first completed nucleus of a broader tarot system that is currently being developed into a full 78-card deck.
The project was created and illustrated by the Italian artist Ardo Quaranta, whose work draws on historical sources, iconography, and the long cultural stratification that has shaped the figure of the witch from the Renaissance onward.
Starting from the study of the classical meanings of the Tarot, the artist has developed a visual language in which the archetypes of the Major Arcana are interpreted through a contemporary artistic vision, while maintaining a constant dialogue with tradition.
The titles of the cards are written in Latin, chosen as the language of the inquisitorial texts that, from the Renaissance onward, defined, codified, and often distorted the image of the witch. This linguistic choice reflects the historical framework within which the figure of the witch was constructed, judged, and transmitted through official doctrine.
Each card is conceived as an autonomous artwork within a coherent visual and narrative system, designed to be read, contemplated, and interpreted, rather than consumed as a purely decorative object.
The cards are embellished with gold and silver foil hot stamping, a material choice that recalls the tradition of illuminated manuscripts and classical printmaking, reinforcing the dialogue between symbolic content and material presence.
STRIGARUM ARCANA is intended for collectors, tarot readers, and art enthusiasts interested in a deck that looks to the tradition of the Tarot with awareness, while opening a space for contemporary interpretation and future expansion.
